Dr. Taku

Tuesday, April 2, 2013 - 12:00pm to 1:00pm

Come to Room 128-130 in the Oakland Center and listen to The Posttraumatic Growth lab led by Dr. Kanako Taku, entitled "Preliminary findings of high school intervention program on posttraumatic growth." They are studying posttraumatic growth or positive psychological changes experienced as a result of the struggle with major life crises. Her research assistants, Sharell Elam, Kellie McGuire, Insia Thomas, and Alexander Boulos will present their ongoing cross-cultural study and discuss how the high school students from two different cultures (US and Japan) experience stressful life events differently and how they perceive their own personal growth out of their stressful experiences. We believe research is by far one of the most enriching experiences available to students pursing a career in psychology; thus, this will be a great opportunity for students who are interested in the research process.
